RED CROSS HAITI EARTHQUAKE APPEAL (Nigerian 419 Advance-Fee Fraud Scam From"JONATHAN BANKS" Misrepresenting The British Red Cross)

This is just sick and wrong. The scamming scum is using the British Red Cross to steal money from you! It may sound legit, but was assured that this really wasn’t from the British Red Cross. If you send a donation to this scammer, not only will it go into his/her pocket, he/she will be back looking for more “donations”. If you receive this, get the header and forward it to the British Red Cross. Then—delete it. I sent this to the BRC, and I’ve enclosed their response.

What a slap in the face! I sent the scam to the Red Cross, but, unfortunately, didn't think about getting the headers. However, they are still trying to find the culprit. (If you receive this, save the headers and forward it to them. See address below.) This was their response:

Thank you for your recent email to the British Red Cross. I can confirm that this is a fraudulent email. We are working closely with Western Union to try to find the perpetrators of this despicable fraud.

It would be very helpful to our investigation if you could provide us with the "header" information of the email you received. Header data provides technical information on where the email originates from, but is not included when you forward the email to us.

A useful reference on the internet for finding header information for GMail, Hotmail and Yahoo addresses is http://www.onimoto.com/cache/50.html.
Another useful address for a wide range of other email accounts is http://www.haltabuse.org/help/headers/
If you are able to display the header, please paste the header information into your covering email and forward the email to us.

If you can find the time to do this, it will greatly assist in stopping this despicable fraud.
